Open days were held at the end of each weekend of test pitting for a summing up by Dr Carenza Lewis and the other archaeologists and to enable all of the finds to be examined.
The July and August gatherings held in Ann and John Handscombe’s garden in the High Street proved particularly popular, no doubt helped by the provision of refreshments and the glorious summer weather.
