Snippets of school news from the '80s

May 1981
The old gates were removed and bollards fitted to discourage lorries from using the pedestrian entrance to the school.

January 1982
A burst water pipe in the old building caused extensive damage to the ceiling. 

October 1982
The whole school visited Meldreth Manor School to attend the official opening ceremony of the riding school, which was performed by Princess Anne. 

December 1982
Shepreth school closed and eight pupils transferred to Meldreth in January 1983.

July 1986
A maypole event was held at the school and six maypoles were in use on the field.

July 1987
On 23rd July at 3.30 pm part of the ceiling of classroom 5 collapsed “bringing down much debris and a light fitting which ended up swinging on one chain.  No children were hurt but several were shocked and most of the class had plaster/dust all over them.  No one needed medical or first aid.”
