Meldreth Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) is a nationwide organisation in which people come together to help tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in their own neighbourhoods. Meldreth has had an active NHW for many years.

NHW Street Co-ordinators are simply ordinary residents who are concerned for the safety and well being of their fellow citizens. They may act as a conduit to the police when local information may be valuable or patterns of criminal activity emerge. They dispense information on criminal activity and crime prevention to their communities.

Meldreth’s Street Co-ordinators meet together three times a year in Meldreth Village Hall’s Green Room to maintain contact with one another and review local criminal and anti-social issues. There are occasional visits from local police personnel and NHW representatives regularly attend the quarterly Neighbourhood Policing Panels which are held in the sector’s villages.

Not all areas of the village have cover despite attempts to recruit more co-ordinators.  Very few demands are made on a volunteer’s time but co-ordinators are likely to be more aware and keep their eyes and ears open to any untoward occurrences.

If you would like to volunteer as a co-ordinator, or would like more information about NHW, please contact Meldreth’s NHW Co-ordinator, Graham Borgonon, on (01763) 260358.
