Treat to the Widows, held in the Parish Room

The Parish Room, which stood in North End
Robert H Clark postcard supplied by Ann Handscombe

The following should have appeared among our Meldreth news last week.  The annual supper to the widows of Meldreth, given by J. G. Mortlock, Esq., took place on Friday, January 3rd, at the Parish Room, when those present were regaled in a substantial manner with turkey, roast beef and mutton, plum pudding and mince-pies, and a most pleasant evening was spent.  We further understand that each widow has received a pair of blankets from the same liberal gentleman.

Report taken from the Royston Crow dated 17th January 1890.
