This group was founded by three local writers and takes its name from the Tavern Gallery, which was opened in Meldreth in 2010 by David Chappell.

Gallery Writers aims to provide an outlet for writers of all abilities and interest in the surrounding area and to provide a forum in which to share their work. Membership is open to anyone over 18 and membership is £5.00 at each attendance at the group. Events for children are being planned for later in the year with the support of South Cambridgeshire Start Arts.

We also plan to include in our programme speakers and readings from other writers. The publication of a book is planned to celebrate the artists who have exhibited at the Tavern and some of the writing which has been done in response to the different exhibitions.

The Group meets every third Tuesday of the month. Please note: we are no longer able to use the Tavern Gallery, which has now closed. In 2015 we began meeting at a member’s house. We are a friendly group and always open to new members.

Our current programme of events is based around writing workshops for poetry and prose.
