Our local Rail User Group (RUG) was inaugurated on 23rd February 2010, for the purpose of protecting and enhancing access to rail services at Meldreth, Shepreth and Foxton Stations.  It sits under the umbrella of Railfuture East Anglia, a regional rail lobby group which gives us close support.

The origins of the group grew out of a successful campaign to retain Saturday Meldreth booking office opening hours, in early 2009.  The RUG now campaigns for issues pertinent to each of the three stations. At Meldreth we have succeeded in reducing parking charges from £3 to £1.50 per day, and have initiated a Railway Garden, with year-round involvement of local residents including Meldreth Primary School Gardening Club.  Our chief aims going forward include a disabled access ramp to the southbound platform, the elimination of parking charges, and a covered shelter on the Cambridge-bound platform for outside of Booking Office hours.

A membership application form is available at the Booking Office, or on line at our website (see below).

The group meets on a rotating basis in each of the three villages, and also in Melbourn.  Agendas, minutes, meeting dates and current campaign information can be found at our website: meldrethsheprethfoxtonrail.org.uk.

Any queries can be directed to Susan van de Ven, who chairs the group: susanvandeven5@gmail.com or 07905 325574.
