Introduction

The coronation of George V and his wife Mary took place at Westminster Abbey, London on 22nd June 1911.

Events in Meldreth

According to the school log book (see photograph on the right), the school was closed during Coronation week (week beginning 19th June). There is no mention in the log book of any celebrations that were held at the school.

We have been unable to find a record of any events that were held in Meldreth to mark the occasion.

Commemorative Mug

A Royal Doulton mug was made for the coronation by the Mortlock China Company. The inscription underneath this one says “Presented by J. G. Mortlock, Meldreth Court, June 22 1911.
