Miss Ethel Sarah Palmer

British Red Cross Society Medal for War Service 1914-1918

This medal was awarded to Ethel Sarah Palmer, aunt of George Cecil Wood Palmer of Sheene Manor, for her service as a volunteer nurse at the Shepreth Auxiliary Hospital during WW1.

She served some 1677 hours from 1916 onwards; over 1000 hours were required to qualify for the medal. Ethel lived with her sister at Elmcroft in Meldreth.
