The following report appeared in the Cambridge Chronicle on 19th April 1895:

Meldreth – Sad Fatality – The County Coroner (Mr A J Lyon) held an inquest, at the Green Man, Royston, on Tuesday evening, upon the body of Albert Jarman, aged 33, a brewer of Meldreth, who died from the effects of an accident which happened on the evening of the 25th March.  Robert Layton, brewer’s agent, of Cherry Hinton, brother-in-law of the deceased, deposed that after the accident the deceased told him that he was riding along the side of the road when his horse swerved and the bank gave way, and he fell.  Mr E F Bindloss, surgeon, of Meldreth, said that the immediate cause of death was concussion of the brain.  The jury returned a verdict of “Accidental death”.
