Sudden Death of Jane Findley, 1892

The following report appeared in the Cambridge Chronicle on 6th May 1892:
Meldreth – Sudden Death – On Saturday, Mr C W Palmer, the county coroner, held an inquest at the Railway Tavern, Meldreth, on the body of Jane Findley, aged 36, wife of Samuel Findley, farmer and publican.  The husband of the deceased said he last saw his wife alive when he left home at ten o’clock on the previous morning, and she was then apparently quite well.  Mr Edmund Frederick Bindloss, surgeon, of Melbourn, said he had made a post mortem examination of the body, which he found to be well nourished and loaded with fat.  The heart was enlarged and fatty, and the cause of death was syncope from failure of the action of the heart, consequent upon fatty degeneration.  A verdict of “Death from natural causes” was returned.
